美國俄勒岡州一名被抽中擔任陪審團員的男子，因為覺得陪審的過程很無聊，於悄悄溜回家。不料周二被一名員警發現，結果反而讓自己吃上官司。

當員警問這名25歲男子為何逃避應盡的國民義務時，他回答說：「因為過程很無聊啊。我覺得受不了。」

華盛頓郡法官納提嘉後來發出逮捕令，將這名不甘願履行國民義務的男子逮捕。法官說，逃避陪審團員義務，最高可被判6個月徒刑。

不果如果觸法者悔悟，願意繼續履行未完的陪審團員義務的話，通常刑罰會被取消。
